with addictive behaviours that have been set up at a time of high vulnerability
and suggestibility. What does this mean? It means that a set of excuses are
designed at the subconscious level as a means to cope with or manage a set of circumstances.
However, these old “excuses” are no
longer required or valid in the here and now. They are programmed
responses continuing to play themselves out. So no matter what weight loss promises
you make to yourself on a conscious level, the subconscious mind will continue
to serve up the same old excuses.
For example, some people have an unconscious limiting belief that being thin is associated
with ill health or that becoming slim again will create conflict within the
marriage. This becomes a subconscious excuse that sabotages weight loss
efforts, primarily because it cannot be confronted while it is still unknown.
