"Here’s how you were when you were born, you were okay, you were a good person. Let’s get back to that again. My wife did the right thing, she kicked my ass right out of the house and that scared the s—t out of me." James Hetfield

"Become addicted to the feeling of getting your shit together." Mel Robbins

Joyce's story

“Terri, you were the only one who didn’t treat me like a basket case. I felt like one. I didn’t know what to expect but nothing else was working for me. The only other time I ever felt so good was when I was little and visiting my Grandparents. It’s been a long time since I have seen the world this way. You have my sincere gratitude.”  Joyce E Lloydminister, AB

Joyce is a 52 year old married woman with four grown children. She works full time in the financial field, is well educated and active in her church. She has been experiencing anxiety since her early twenties and has made use of a wide range of traditional resources including therapy and medication (anti-anxiety and anti-depressants).

She described her early years as having been difficult and stated that her parents were “perfectionists” who expected both her and her siblings to meet unrealistic expectations. Joyce never felt that her efforts were rewarded or that she was accepted for who she was. She brought these beliefs into her relationships, often felt victimized, and subsequently found herself in a marriage that left her feeling dismissed, un-appreciated and frustrated.

Despite of the traditional support she has received she continued to experience bouts of anxiety and frustration with many areas of her life. Joyce felt that “life was passing her by” and that she had not tapped her potential. She was deeply concerned about taking control of the next phase of her life. She felt that her mindset needed “upgrading” and asked for help to deal with the overwhelming feelings of anxiety and the feelings of “missing out on life” that often plagued her.

Joyce was a good candidate for this work. She was interested in regression and solution focused programming to help her understand how subconscious patterns were impacting her daily life and to begin creating a better future. She was an excellent candidate for this work and engaged wholeheartedly in success planning and hypnotherapy for anxiety issues. Between appointments she completed assignments and was diligent in tracking her progress.

Today, Joyce no longer identifies with being anxious or depressed and instead experiences herself as someone who is able to direct her thoughts, feelings and behaviors. She has had the opportunity to cement new ways of being and is proud of her ability to make decisions that are in her best interest. Via the assessment and working process she has identified new interests and experimented with and solidified a belief system that is congruent with who she is now. This has helped to create needed changes in both her personal and professional life. Most importantly for her, she is now viewing herself as “capable and competent” and is seeing the world as a “good place to be.”

The majority of individuals who access services a clinical hypnotherapy and executive coaching services at Hypnosis for Life have, at one time or another made good use of: 1) traditional clinical psychology services  2) medication  3) community counselling, 12 step programs and/or treatment centers 4) self-help These options provide initial needed relief, however, relapse is common. However, challenges tend to re-occur until the subconscious mind has fully accepted and absorbed new paths of least resistance.
