SUBCONSCIOUS PROGRAMS ARE THE AUTOMATIC WAYS OF BEING THAT EITHER SERVE US OR GET IN THE WAY OF ACHIEVING OUR CURRENT GOALS, REACHING OUR POTENTIAL AND CREATING A BETTER FUTURE. 

Beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviors become conditioned and automated. These automatic ways of being are paths of least resistance. Addiction recovery requires an understanding that ways of being become subconsciously driven.

Paths of least resistance are familiar, require less thinking/planning, and even require less glucose since higher level brain functions are not required. The bottom line is that the subconscious mind prefers what is familiar and makes no judgement as to whether or not a path will be in our best interest.

At Hypnosis for Life we refer paths of least resistance as "cow paths."

  • The cow path represents a habitual path of least resistance that has been learned, absorbed and accepted by the subconscious mind. 
  • There is a neurological reality to any way of being that has become automated, ways of being have cellular memory.
  • Ways of being have countless associated mind files that are well anchored and easily triggered.

These programs run deep and have been hard-wired. Some programs serve you while others block addiction recovery, your original potential and the creation of a better future.

However, it is vital to realize that if you are not satisfied with your life, you are not “broken” “crazy” or “incapable,” rather, your subconscious mind has simply accepted unhealthy ways of being as "truths."

The fact that it has accepted anything at all, is proof that it can be influenced.

To do- answer these questions in your journal:

1. When I consider my thoughts, feelings and behaviors as being programmed ways of being, how does that sit with me? What is my first reaction? 

2. When I consider my current goal what thoughts, feelings and behaviors are naturally triggered? Are these obstacles or do they serve me?
