ADDICTION RECOVERY-PROTECTING & CARING FOR THE FUTURE YOU JOURNAL SERIES
Supporting the Subconscious Mind to Accept a New Self-Image

SELF-PERCEPTION

IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH SOBRIETY BUT ARE STILL WORKING TOWARDS PROTECTING AND CARING FOR YOUR FUTURE SELF...YOU ARE BECOMING THE CEO YOUR LIFE.

BECOMING THE CEO OF OUR LIFE REQUIRES THAT WE UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF SELF-PERCEPTION AND HOW IT RELATES TO OUR CURRENT LEVEL OF FUNCTIONING.

We will never outperform our self-image.

How we “see” ourselves will always impact our results. Our self-concept is deeply rooted, but it is important to realize that it has been developed, learned, conditioned, programmed and habituated over time, and not necessarily in alignment with our original potential.

A lack of success is always rooted at the subconscious level where identity is stored.

Failure to consider the dynamic workings of the subconscious mind will ultimately result in relapse when positive surface gains are made. Relapse in good intentions, relapse in motivation and relapse in the deliberate actions required to create and maintain positive change will occur until the subconscious mind is re-educated.

As you move through the series, keep in mind that our self-image impacts every area of our life. Our self-image is reflected in everything that we think, feel and do. Our self-image is intimately tied to both successes and challenges.

We need to systematically regain a belief in ourselves and make a decision about who we are going to be.

Regardless of substance use issues, within you is a desire to be more, have more and do more.

To do-in your journal write down:

1. Five words that describe how I see myself.

2. Five words that describe how I think significant others see me.

3. Five words that describe how I would like to realistically see myself in three months.

4. Five words that describe how I would like significant others to realistically see me in three months.
