ADDICTION RECOVERY-PROTECTING & CARING FOR THE FUTURE YOU JOURNAL SERIES
Supporting the Subconscious Mind to Accept a New Self-Image

SELF-IMAGE & ASSOCIATED BELIEFS

IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH SOBRIETY BUT ARE STILL WORKING TOWARDS PROTECTING AND CARING FOR YOUR FUTURE SELF...YOU ARE BECOMING THE CEO YOUR LIFE.

OUR CURRENT LIFE (AND THE FUTURE WE ARE CREATING) ARE A REFLECTION OF OUR SELF-IMAGE AND ASSOCIATED BELIEFS.

Every aspect of our life links back to our self-image.

Remember that we will never outperform our self-image.

The self-image is the seat of the subconscious mind.

If we do not take charge of our self-image and become APO about becoming the CEO of our lives, each thought, feeling and action only serves to strengthen old ways of being (cow paths).

We become stuck in these paths of least resistance simply because they are familiar and  require less energy. Remember, the subconscious mind prefers the status quo and does not care if old cow paths serve you, or if they are painful.

Remember also, we are not born with the identity of addict or problem user. Regardless of past situations or current circumstances we have ability to decide how to "see the self."

Remember this too...any individual who is working towards protecting and caring for the future self is becoming the CEO of their lives, even as they are struggling with sobriety.

When we decide to become the CEO of our life:

  • we choose conscious, deliberate healthy mindsets rather than allowing social programming to robotize our way of being.
  • we recognize that this work takes practice and we seek out opportunities for continued learning.
  • we are willing to experiment with new ways of being.
  • we make a conscious decision about which beliefs will protect and care for the future self.
  • we practice awareness of our current state and are curious about what else is possible for us.

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE YOU

“What else is possible” means setting realistic goals.

In this workbook we have focused on time frame of three (3) months.

Remember that we all have an innate need to grow.

To do: answer these questions in your journal:

1. How can I become better at directing my thinking?

2. How can I become better at disciplining my imagination?

3. How can I become better at catching myself in negative stories?

4. How can I become better at recognizing powerful moments of choice?
