Weight Release with Hypnotherapy
Seduce your Subconscious

Terri Cooper RSW CCHT NLP-M

Why is "losing weight" and keeping it off so darn difficult for most people? Diets can work quite well for a little while. Yet, sooner or later nearly everyone returns to the same old unhealthy habits. If you are one of these individuals….read on! Make yourself comfortable and prepare to benefit from what you are about to read. Simply by opening your mind to the possibilities, you will be taking another step in your journey towards wellness.

As a registered social worker, master hypnotist and clinical hypnotherapist I regularly assist individuals who wish to release weight. In order for my clients to be successful, I have learnt that they must do the following:

  • learn to communicate effectively with their powerful subconscious mind
  • address unresolved emotions

Welcome to the wonderful, empowering and exciting world of hypnosis for weight release. For those of you who are not familiar with hypnosis, I will first offer you a quick explanation:

Hypnosis is not magic; it is simply a natural and healthy state of mind which we experience throughout our day. We may refer to it as `zoning out, tuning in and being in a trance and an altered state. Whatever you choose to call it, it is normal and it feels great!

While in this state the subconscious mind is more open to swallowing suggestions. Hypnotherapy is a tool which allows you to make the most of this state. When we learn to communicate with our subconscious mind we become better equipped to achieve the results we want in our lives.

For example we can learn how to instruct it to develop behaviours and attitudes that will manifest a healthy weight.

Did you know that your subconscious mind regulates and controls your physiological functioning? It keeps your heart beating, digests your food, regulates your metabolism and keeps you breathing while you sleep.

We must have a healthy respect for our powerful subconscious mind and learn to communicate with it in a way that serves our best interests! The subconscious mind is very literal, it cannot take a joke, and it loves details and vivid descriptions. By learning how to seduce your subconscious mind you can create new mental tracks which lead to new behaviours.

Tip- weight must be released as opposed to lost. Remember the subconscious mind is literal. It will go looking for what it has lost! The subconscious mind is a servo-mechanism-you give it a goal and off it goes, whether the goal is positive or not. It is the conscious mind that analyzes right from wrong, NOT the subconscious mind.

Emotions, eating and weight release Overeating often has become a "coping method" for many of my clients. From an early age most of us are handed food in an attempt to get us to be quiet, go away, or simply just make us feel better after falling off our bike!!

Is it any wonder that we reach for “comfort foods”` as adults? Rather then tuning into and managing uncomfortable emotions, we have learned to stuff them down even deeper…with food. Often we have become so out of sync with our bodies and our emotions that we cannot even tell the difference between real physiological hunger and emotional hunger.

The more we eat, the worse we feel. Seeking a momentary feeling of satisfaction we reach for the comfort food once again. What a vicious cycle!

Hypnotherapy can tackle the root cause of overeating. The majority of my weight release clients are women. Usually they come seeking answers as to why their bodies are holding onto the weight. They are doing EVERYTHING right. They can write a book on healthy food choices. Most exercise regularly and most have regular medical check ups. But still, the weight stays on!

When these women learn to relax their bodies and quiet the internal chatter they begin to tune into their inner wisdom. The subconscious mind always tells us what we need to know. We simply need to learn how to create the right environment and learn how to listen. Typical good communication skills!

Often we find that unresolved concerns are feeding into the weight issue. Shame, old emotional scars, a history of negative self talk and fears of abandonment often go back to childhood. Unresolved issues can manifest in a lack of comfort with body image, an inability to sooth the self and a disassociation from the sexual self.

Through the use of hypnotherapy most clients begin a journey of self discovery which results in uncovering unhealthy sabotaging behaviours, thoughts and beliefs and replacing them with positive result oriented behaviours, thoughts and beliefs.

Within the supportive, collaborative environment of hypnotherapy, you can begin to heal unresolved emotional issues and connect with your inner wisdom. Hidden under those issues are wonderful innate talents and natural abilities; they have been just been covered up by a whole lot of `stuff. All those wonderful bits and pieces of you that have been stuffed down can begin to emerge.

Managing cravings and developing a taste for healthy foods becomes much easier when emotional eating has been addressed. Learning to communicate effectively with your subconscious and tuning into your inner wisdom will allow you to make choices and behave in ways that will naturally move your body towards its perfect healthy weight.
