People who describe themselves as anxious often feel that they have quit growing and developing. This makes perfect sense for the person who has developed a fear based response to the world around them. When we negatively anticipated damaging outcomes, expect to fail and live from a place of dread it is reasonable to quit exposing one self to new events and learning opportunities…isn’t it?
There is logic to the avoidance that comes with anxiety however the logic is warped. When we quit learning and opening ourselves up to new experiences or we avoid situations that are linked to a lack of comfort we begin to shrivel inside. We begin to stagnant.
When we are not growing and expanding we are standing still. When we stand still be begin to atrophy, close in and shut down. People who are anxious and not take steps to grow and develop often describe their lives as unfulfilling. We are not born to idle. We are born to live.
Like it or not when we quit growing and expanding we have made the decision to accept a mediocre life. We are born to experiment, to learn, to accept “failure” as part of growing and moving forward. This is a simple mindset that needs to be reclaimed. This mindset is reclaimed via deliberate planned actions backed by strategies and tools that will influence the subconscious mind. There is always something better for us.
