ANXIETY HYPNOTHERAPY & TROUBLE BREATHING FULLY

“I have trouble breathing fully.” Clients experiencing bouts of anxiety almost always have episodes of laboured breathing. As the mind races the body responds by activating a fight/fight response in preparation to manage catastrophes created by fear based thinking. At times the source of anxiety is clear, while other times the physiological reaction stems from unidentified trigger/s.

Shallow breathing deprives the brain and other internal organs of needed oxygen, usually resulting in a range of extremely uncomfortable bodily sensations. This creates a vicious cycle. The subconscious mind is designed to maintain the status quo and bringing breathing back to normal can be a significant challenge for the anxious individual.

Having trouble breathing fully means that the subconscious mind is doing a job that it has been conditioned for. However, overtime, a lack of sufficient oxygen will create muddled thinking and an exhausted body. This heightened state of arousal has become a programmed response and the subconscious mind needs to be re-educated.
